A copy of the ‘2019 New Rules’ presentation is now available below. Thanks to Pete Hammond for the presentation, Keith Dingle for organising and those who attended.
Do you have problems getting qualified umpires at your club to actually umpire for the club or are you struggling to attract new umpires?
Are your umpires up to date with current umpiring practice or are they struggling with specific areas of game management such as dissent
In either case Somerset HA are offering to run a workshop at your club (or group of clubs if you want to get together) to help you in these areas if they are of concern.
In the first instance please contact the Somerset HA Umpiring Officer Keith Dingle (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further information.
The recent SHA Umpire’s Forum attended by umpires from five or six clubs focussed on ‘ How to make the umpiring experience less stressful for umpires’ and ‘How umpiring can make the game more enjoyable for players’. There are four documents below which summarises what was discussed in the forum. Somerset HA realise that the vast majority of umpires often receive no support or coaching when they have completed their Level 1 so hopefully many will find these documents helpful. The documents deal with Player Management, Use of Headsets, Frustration Swearing and Managing Dissent and Swearing.
